Since the outbreak began, at least 501,615 people in the USA have tested positive and 18,777 have died from COVID-19, according to a tracker maintained by Johns Hopkins University. Public health experts have warned the U.S. death toll could reach 200,000 over the summer if unprecedented stay-at-home orders that have closed businesses and kept most Americans indoors are lifted when they expire at the end of the month. The total number of cases in the capital city of Bhopal is 94, while Ujjain has reported 13 cases so far. Jérôme Salomon, head of the public health authority, told reporters that there were now 7,062 people in intensive care at hospitals across France , a net decrease of 82 from the day earlier. According to a statement from the Indonesian Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG), the 9.58pm eruption saw the volcano spewing out ash and smoke as high as 500 metres. The eruption was thought to be the biggest on Anak Krakatau since the violent partial collapse of the volcano in December 2018 which triggered a devastating tsunami. (more...)
