Late Monday, Pence reiterated in a joint statement alongside South Korean Acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn that "all options are on the table" and said any use of nuclear weapons by Pyongyang would be met with "an overwhelming and effective response". The leaflets were sent to the North to coincide with the 105th birthday of North Korea's founding leader Kim Il-sung. Soldiers are still searching the site to ensure nobody was buried under the enormous heap which fell on Friday night. Police say the known death toll from the disaster has risen to 26. Debris blocked them from fleeing immediately, but eventually they found a way out, Sanjeewa said. With around 800 tons of solid waste added to the site every day, the mountain of trash has absorbed much of Colombo's garbage for several years as large areas of the capital have undergone extensive renovations.
