DoD Mulls Deploying 10,000 Troops to Middle East Amid Tension With Iran

There are now 60,000 to 80,000 US troops serving in the Middle East including 14,000 in Afghanistan, 5,000 in Iraq, 2,000 in Syria, 10,000 in Kuwait, 10,000 in Qatar and thousands more at sea and elsewhere in the region. After hearing from the officials, Democratic lawmakers expressed alarm over the administration's posture in the Middle East and the possibility of a conflict with Iran. (more...)

The chase ended around 7:35 p.m. when the suspect crashed into a white vehicle backing out of a driveway in a Tarzana neighborhood near the intersection of Tampa Avenue and Wells Drive. The woman smashed up at least six cars during her run and slammed into trees. Officers managed to apprehend the woman as she allegedly attempted to hop a gate in front of one of the nearby homes. Some carried wooden poles and some had toothpaste around their eyes, a practice carried out to eliminate the effects of tear gas. They also asked people to "like" the post and share it on Facebook and other social media platforms, including Twitter and Instagram. The UN has passed a resolution demanding the United Kingdom return control of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius. It was a worse result for Britain than a 2017 vote at the United Nations that passed a resolution for the legal status of the territory to be referred to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), marking an escalation in international disapproval. Opposition parties readied a vote of no confidence in the government, and it was not clear that the FPO would side with Kurz in the vote.
