Hurricane Irma , a "potentially catastrophic " Category 5 storm churning in the Atlantic , is gathering steam as it makes its way toward the Leeward Islands , Puerto Rico and parts of Florida. Three hurricanes raging at the same time hasn't happened in the Atlantic Ocean since 2010, and at least two of them could affect the Harrisburg area as early as Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service at State College. Steven McDowell, 44, was taken into custody and arraigned on homicide charges on Saturday after the body of Crystal Seratte McDowell, 37, was discovered in a wooded area in Chambers County. Days before Crystal McDowell's remains were found, police found her vehicle in a flooded motel parking lot, but they say they're sure she wasn't a victim of the storm. (more...)

City manager Daniel Alfonso says officials knew Irma could be a serious threat with about a week's notice, and that wasn't enough time to take all the cranes down. "We will have a crew over to secure the crane as soon as the weather permits". The building was still in tact despite the crane's failure.
