Images shared on social media show large plumes of smoke above the historic building and the cathedral's spire has now collapsed. "A awful fire is underway at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris", Mayor Anne Hidalgo said on Twitter. There was no immediate word on the cause of the blaze or of potential victims. Notre Dame - which means "Our Lady" - was built in 1160 and completed by 1260, and has been modified on a number of occasions throughout the century. (more...)

While waiting for the main door of the plane to open, the man opened a service door on the other side of the plane and jumped out. The man fell about 10 feet to the ground, and suffered minor injuries. The FAA, who is investigating the matter, said in a statement, "The pilot reported that the Airbus 321 may have collided with an object during departure...workers discovered damage to the left wing, possibly caused by striking a runway sign and airport light departure". Her condition was listed as critical at a hospital in the Bronx not far from the Fordham campus. The school said it was investigating how the students gained access to the tower. "He told me some seniors (wanted to go) to the tower to take some pictures and have a good time before graduating". "I feel so bad", Greene added. The airline says its reservations and sales teams will work with customers to manage their travel plans.
