A TOTAL of 1,731 cases, involving an amount of Rs 6.29 crore, were disposed of by the National Legal Services Authority during the National Lok Adalat, conducted at the District Courts, Sector 43, here on Saturday. Airports were closing to global flights as conditions warranted. A hurricane warning for the Commonwealth island of Barbuda and the British territory of Anguilla has been downgraded to a tropical storm warning, while Antigua and the British Virgin Islands are on tropical storm watch. I'm told if we don't raise the debt ceiling than we can't appropriate the additional funds for Harvey on an emergency basis, which we absolutely need to do. While the Senate forces a debate and shows that it will struggle to pass the funds, the funds passed the House by a vote of 419-3. Sen. Democrats have generally supported increasing the debt limit in the past, and most Republicans expect that Democrats will do so again. (more...)
