Zachary Kingsbury from North Carolina jumped into the ocean at Surf City and attempted to swim away after police spotted illegal contraband in his vehicle. Police used a drone to track him as he swam almost a mile from shore. It didn't take long for Kingsbury to be in trouble with more than law after a shark spotted him. (more...)

The four companies named to build were Caddell Construction Co (DE), LLC, of Montgomery, Alabama; Fisher Sand & Gravel Co., DBA Fisher Industries, of Tempe, Arizona; Texas Sterling Construction Co., of Houston, Texas; W. Trump is now demanding that Congress fund the wall and has threatened to shut down the government if it doesn't do so. The contract awards for each company range from $400,000 to $500,000, and the funding for the prototype construction was through the fiscal year 2017 ... (more...)

Rent control acts mean landlords can not afford to maintain buildings while poor people choose to remain in homes even after they have been declared unsafe because they have nowhere else to go. Mnuchin has authority to use a range of bookkeeping maneuvers to avoid breaching the limit through September 29, although private analysts believe the actual deadline for Congress increasing the current $19 trillion limit will be in mid-October.
