Throughout yesterday, some 20,000 people did manage to stream out of the last rebel stronghold near Damascus, taking the total number to escape the carnage over the past three days to an estimated 50,000, the monitor said. Yesterday, rebel artillery fire killed one person in the capital, the Observatory said. The spokesman for Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday that Turkey expected its forces and rebel allies to clear Afrin town of militants "very soon". (more...)

He says the couple's children are safe. The mall is being evacuated, VC Star reports. The gun was recovered at the scene. No one else was harmed or fired at during the shooting. He says they are both a little shaken and have been in the store for an hour. Authorities set up a safety zone across the street. Confirming the incident, SP Vaid, J&K DGP said that following the heavy shelling by Pakistani troops, five people living near the border were killed. A total of 860 incidents of ceasefire violations took place a year ago. The ceasefire violation on Sunday comes days after Pakistan Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif ruled out talks with India, saying he did not expect improvement in relations due to alleged frequent ceasefire violations by India. When the unidentified student refused to let the principal take his sign, citing basic free speech rights, he made a decision to walk away from the scene and was promptly followed and escorted by the principal off school grounds.
