When can I register online for the COVID-19 vaccine in BC?

NJ to Open Vaccines to All Residents 16 and Older on April 19

People are asked to wait until their age cohort is eligible before registering for a vaccine and getting a confirmation code.

Dr. Penny Ballem, executive lead for B.C.'s COVID-19 immunization program, said the province has worked "diligently and tirelessly" to get the online registration, booking and tracking system ready.

The ministry said the online portal and single provincial call centre will replace the five regional call centres now being used to register patients and book vaccine appointments.

"We encourage everyone to get their vaccine at their first opportunity, when it is their turn", said Health Minister Adrian Dix. People who are 71 and older - i.e., those born in 1950 or earlier - and those who are clinically extremely vulnerable will be able to register online to book their appointment, as will Indigenous people who are 18 and older.

The province set records two days in a row last week, with 1,018 cases reported for Friday and 1,072 cases Saturday. Check gov.bc.ca/getvaccinated to see when you are eligible.

When they are eligible, adults can register online with their Personal Health Number (PHN).

You will not be asked for your SIN, driver's licence number, or banking and credit card details.

You can register for yourself or on someone else's behalf.

You will be contacted when you are eligible to book an appointment. This is based on age.

They will be notified by email, text or phone when they are eligible to book their appointments. "Every vaccine delivered makes all of us safer - let's keep our momentum going and get everyone who wants one, their first dose by Canada Day".

The Brazilian variant, believed to be three times more contagious than the previous COVID strain, is hitting towns like Whistler, leading the province to order Whistler-Blackcomb resort to close until April 19. He has consistently refused to push for more drastic lockdowns used in other countries, calling such tactics "authoritarian".
