Ford Expected to Make Announcement on Possible New Restrictions Tomorrow

City moves to lower vaccine-eligibility age to 60

CBC says the 28-day lockdown, would begin on Saturday.

One source said non-essential retail stores would be permitted to open at 25 per cent capacity, while grocery stores would be limited to 50 per cent occupancy.

A report from Critical Care Services Ontario indicates the province now has 421 COVID-19 patients in intensive care units, which is a higher amount than at any other point in the pandemic.

Ontario reported 2,333 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday and 15 more deaths linked to the virus.

Patios, which just reopened in Toronto and Peel Region, will have to close while restaurants and bars can still remain open for takeout and delivery.

According to the report the measure would also include not allowing hair and nail salons along with barbershops to be open, or reopen in regions already in the Gey-Lockdown zone on April 12th as previously promised.

The new measures will prohibit Indoor gatherings with people outside your household and outdoor gatherings will be limited to five people.

Ford's comments come after a report shows there are now more COVID-19 patients in Ontario intensive care units than at any other point in the pandemic.

It is not yet clear whether schools will be impacted by the provincewide shutdown.

Earlier this month, the province amended its reopening framework to increase indoor dining capacity in regions in the orange and red zones.

"We were hitting 1,000 cases, things were looking a little rosy, and I took the advice from the chief medical officer", he said.

"We are going to see more ICU use than we have with the first two waves, and that means that we're going to have less ICU resources available, less hospital resources available", she said.
