US Conservative Radio Host Rush Limbaugh Dead: Family
Talk radio giant Rush Limbaugh has passed away, his wife, Kathryn, announced on his show Wednesday morning.
The right-wing radio personality, whose impact on the GOP's more extreme messaging in the United States is well-documented, died due to complications from lung cancer.
Limbaugh, an outspoken lover of cigars, had been battling stage 4 lung cancer.
"This is not good news, but what is good news is that he is the greatest fighter and victor that you will ever meet".
The day after revealing he had cancer, Limbaugh was invited by President Trump to attend his State of the Union where he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
It is with great sadness to inform you that Rush Limbaugh passed away today. after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.
At that time, he mentioned that his cancer was likely terminal.
"It's tough to realize that the days where I do not think I'm under a death sentence are over", Limbaugh said at the time.
He had vowed to do his program "as normally and as competently" as he could while undergoing treatment.
"Rush Limbaugh was the innovator who spoke for the Americans ignored and disrespected by the elites".
