The once towering symbol of Donald Trump's Atlantic City performance as a real estate magnate and casino wunderkind was turned into dust Wednesday morning when the disgraced former USA president's prized Trump Plaza-abandoned and left to decay after a series of bankruptcies and failures-was demolished. The city asked that the building be demolished because it had fallen into disrepair, and debris was falling to the boardwalk below.

The Plaza was the first of 3 casinos Trump owned in A.C., and was the site of some marquee boxing matches and other big events after it opened in 1984.

According to the Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, you'll be able watch the implosion from outside your auto, but you must stay near your vehicle, as social distancing requirements - including the wearing of masks - will be practiced.

Atlantic City's Facebook page will be streaming the event, which has helped generate some goodwill towards the community.

"It was like that a lot: You had Madonna and Sean Penn walking in, Barbra Streisand and Don Johnson, Muhammad Ali would be there, Oprah sitting with Donald ringside", he said. He gave up his role in the company's operations when he resigned as chairman during the 2009 bankruptcy proceedings, according to More than 1,100 workers lost their jobs when the casino closed.
