Speaking at the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Covid-19 media briefing in Abuja, Faisal Shuaib, head of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, said the agency remains in anticipation of COVID-19 vaccines from the COVAX facility and the African Union, Xinhua news agency reported on Tuesday.

Today, Muhyiddin reiterated that the national vaccination programme would be in three phases, with frontliners and high-risk groups to be vaccinated in the first two while healthy Malaysians adults would receive theirs in the last.

Front-line healthcare workers will be the first to be vaccinated, followed by those over 80 years old.

Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation Khairy Jamaluddin tweeted separately that a MASKargo flight will transport 312,290 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and send it to various storage sites around the country.

Lynn Sutfin, a spokesperson for the state health department, said Michigan's allotment of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines must be divided up among state and local health departments, tribes, hospitals, pharmacies, and federally qualified health care centers.

Kono told a press conference that the second shipment had been cleared by the European Union under its new vaccine export controls and was expected to arrive next week, but declined to say how many doses it would contain.

The health service across the United Kingdom has been working tirelessly to vaccinate those most at risk as quickly as possible after the government secured effective vaccines early.

"The immunisation program is comprehensive to ensure a herd immunity is built in the community to break the chain of Covid-19 infection and finally end the Covid-19 pandemic", Muhyiddin said.

There are also fears that millions of the Pfizer-Biontech vaccine doses could be wasted due to a shortage of syringes required to maximise the number of shots from each vial.

"In short, vaccination is very important for us to protect not only ourselves, but also our loved ones, namely family members, co-workers, neighbours and the whole community".

The prime minister also urged all in the country not to treat the vaccination programme lightly, saying its success was essential in order for the country to return to social and economic normalcy.
