Samsung's new robots can put away your shopping and load your dishwasher
Samsung made the announcement during a virtual press conference as part of the 2021 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
Samsung also unveiled interesting robots.
The South Korean electronics conglomerate also detailed its AI ecosystem and smart home software, as well as its sustainability efforts. The first is its shift to its DRAMs and SSDs in its data centres and servers, which can apparently make a 7TWh (Tera-Watt-hour) difference in energy consumption. The new 8800 Series Smart Dial Front Load washers and dryers have been redesigned to make laundry easier, more intuitive, and less stressful. "We're hard at work to bring you next-generation innovation, with AI as the core enabler, for your better tomorrow". This model will initially come with North America this spring which will also include a brand-new Beverage Center.
110-inch MICRO LED: This new screen features self-lit inorganic LED with a slim and almost bezel-less Infinity Screen design that seamlessly blends into the living space. The result is a spectacularly immersive viewing experience with astounding picture quality.
While most water purifier makers offer maintenance services through technician visits, Samsung said it has applied auto smart care solution so that users can manage their products on their own amid the contactless trend. MICRO LED will be rolled out globally beginning this spring.
Lifestyle TV: Samsung's cutting-edge lifestyle TV lineup includes The Serif, The Frame, The Sero and The Terrace-a recently launched 4K QLED outdoor TV-as well as Samsung The Premiere, a cinema-like quality 4K laser projector.
LG said its "scan-to-cook" feature will support meal kits from Tovala, a US -based all-in-one appliance and gourmet meal service provider, and products from household food makers, including Nestle and Kraft-Heinz, later this year.
An interactive "HealthSmart Trainer" personal fitness function (in use in this story's main image) that will endow all 2021 Samsung TVs; it analyzes posture in real time and provides feedback on exercise form.
Normally, Samsung uses CES to show off new refrigerators and TVs, which were only briefly mentioned in its presentation.
Samsung also embraces AI in its JetBot 90 vacuum cleaner that uses object recognition and 3D sensors that avoid cables, small objects and pets.
The company first showed a prototype of the first robot called Bot Care back in 2019, but then it was assumed that it would look after the elderly. It will be able to act as both a robotic assistant and companion, helping to take care of the details in your life. "By automating your floor care and learning your laundry preferences, these new home appliances remove items from your to-do list, freeing you up to do more of what you love".
One of the devices is the JetBot AI 90 +, a robot vacuum that uses object recognition technology enhanced by artificial intelligence (AI) to identify and classify items found during work and define the best way for cleaning.
The Samsung Bot Handy (yes, weird name) is most intriguing of these, featuring an arm that can grab hold of objects.
The Samsung robots are now in development, and therefore, it is not known if and when the device will be launched in the market.
