Netflix announces slate of 70 films for 2021
The slate from debt-fuelled service does not include non-English films and it is also expected to make surprise movie announcements later in the year.
Already the master of 2020's pandemic-era movie landscape, Netflix on Tuesday offered a preview of upcoming 2021 releases, a list with no fewer than 70 star-studded feature films.
Don't Look Up is directed by Adam McKay (Anchorman, Step Brothers, The Big Short), and there is an incredible cast backing up Leo and J-Law, including Jonah Hill, Tyler Perry, Timothee Chalamet, Ron Perlman, Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Kid Cudi, Himesh Patel, and Matthew Perry.

Netflix is competing for viewers with a group of newer streaming services from Walt Disney Co, AT&T Inc, Comcast Corp and Apple Inc.
Boom, The Woman in the Window with Amy Adams, Escape from Spiderhead with Chris Hemsworth, Sweet Girl with Jason Momoa, Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead, Outside the Wire with Anthony Mackie, Bad Trip with Eric Andre and Lil Rel Howery, Malcolm & Marie with Zendaya and John David Washington, Amy Poehler's Moxie, and Red Notice with Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds.
While the major film studios have been hastily reassessing their release plans, the streaming service has enjoyed a string of hits, including films The Old Guard and Extraction and TV shows including Bridgerton. "Here's a sneak peek at 27 of the biggest, brightest, fastest, funniest, feel-good, feel-everything films and stars coming to Netflix this year", Netflix tweeted. Larson's other cult classic musical is Rent, recently revived in Manchester.
