FA Cup: Tottenham sends match jerseys to Marine after win

A chance to impress

Tottenham manager José Mourinho bought a ticket to a draw organized by Marine FC, his FA Cup rival, the prize of which is a ticket to a team preseason game.

Players of eighth-tier Marine may have been denied the chance to swap jerseys with their Tottenham Hotspur counterparts following their 5-0 FA Cup defeat on Sunday but they can look forward to a delivery of new shirts courtesy of the Premier League club.

"People around the world and in Crosby can be happy with us that even though we got beaten 5-0 we tried our best". The best view of the Tottenham players was in the streets of this Liverpool commuter town as fans lined the roads despite the country being in a coronavirus lockdown to see the team bus arrive.

Mourinho said: "They hit the bar yes but what could we do to stop it?"

It was the only goal in the second half after fellow Brazilian Lucas Moura had also scored from a free kick before the break.

Devine also became the youngest player to score for a Football League or Premier League club in the FA Cup since George Williams for MK Dons netted nearly a decade ago against Nantwich in November 2011, at the age of16 years and 66 days.

Although they do not know when their league campaign will resume due to Covid-19, selling more than 30,000 virtual tickets has safeguarded Marine's immediate future.

"I am buying. If I win, I won't be able to make it valid because we have our preseason".
