COVID vaccine: European Union orders 300 million more BioNTech-Pfizer doses

Israel's health ministry authorizes use of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine

Moderna vaccine is the second to be approved by the European Medicines Agency.

The vaccination output has likely increased in recent weeks as states expand the availability of the drugs to more people.

"The Philippine government is in the final stages of negotiating for the supply of a minimum of 10 million doses of mRNA-1273, the company's COVID-19 vaccine, with the option to purchase an additional 10 million doses", Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel Romualdez said in a statement released by the embassy.

With the 600 million Pfizer-BioNTech doses and 160 million doses of Moderna vaccine, both authorised for conditional marketing in the EU, the bloc would have an amount enough to vaccinate 380 million Europeans, which is "more than 80 percent of the European population", noted Von der Leyen.

Both vaccines now authorized in the United States, developed by Pfizer and Moderna, require recipients to receive booster shots after three and four weeks, respectively.

People who have received a coronavirus vaccine should continue to follow social distancing rules to protect themselves and others.

The most common side effects are "pain and swelling at the injection site, tiredness, chills, fever, swollen or tender lymph nodes under the arm, headache, muscle and joint pain, nausea and vomiting", the EMA said.

No vaccine is 100% effective and it takes time for protection to build.

The UK has already authorized those two and just added the vaccine developed by Oxford University with AstraZeneca. Biden said. "I haven't gotten an answer from the parliamentarian yet."Later on Monday, The Washington Post reported that Chuck Schumer, the Senate Democratic leader, was considering whether to use a rare authority granted after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks to reconvene the Senate during an emergency, according to a congressional aide. The Senate has been in recess since it finished certifying the Electoral College vote last week". Now the good news is that we have agreed with BioNTech-Pfizer to extend the contract. They don't contain any coronavirus - meaning they can not cause infection. France vaccinated around 500 people in the first week, while Germany vaccinated 200,000. This follows an European Union validation on Wednesday.

"The Moderna vaccine will be a vital boost to these efforts and will help us return to normal faster".
