Apple has a "big announcement" tomorrow and it isn't a new product
Apple CEO Tim Cook has teased an announcement coming on Wednesday, and said that everyone involved in the January 6 siege of the U.S. Capitol should be "held accountable".
Gayle King, the host of the morning show and the person who interviewed the executive, said that Cook's announcement is significant although it is not related to a new product. The taped interview will be shown in its entirety on Wednesday during which Cook will make an important announcement relating to Apple. Cook himself called for those responsible to be "held accountable". Over the chat, King also also asked Cook about the US Capitol siege.
"This is something we've got to be serious about".
Tim Cook also spoke about the "Parler" app which was removed by Apple from its app store over the weekend.
Cook did not specifically mention Trump, but said that anyone with a role in the insurrection should be held accountable under the law. "And then we need to move forward", Cook said.
Notably, however, King emphasized that the interview was not originally meant to discuss last week's events - it was actually scheduled long before that, specifically because Apple had a big announcement that it wanted to share, and it wanted to do so specifically on CBS This Morning.
King went to the local Apple store to interview Cook from Cupertino and says Cook agreed to answer other questions. It's something I think bigger and better than that.
No further information on Apple's announcement has been made available. And if this is indeed what Apple is going to announce today, in the middle of CES 2021, it is noteworthy since Apple has promoted its privacy policies during CES in the past as well (with a whole billboard advert).
