Trump tweets about election results and concludes G20 talks

Trump Skips G-20 Summit Discussion On Global Pandemic To Golf by Jim Heath | Nov 21 2020 | coronavirus Headlines Health | 0 comments

The outgoing POTUS joined other world leaders for the summit via video-link from The White House yesterday (Saturday); however, shortly after opening remarks began at 8am, he began tweeting about his continuing efforts to overturn the result of the election.

A few hours later, Trump was on the golf course just outside Washington D.C. while he could (and should) have been attending a G20 event dedicated to dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.

He is due to join another session of the G20 on Sunday morning, according to the White House schedule.

A White House readout of his remarks said that Trump 'highlighted how the United States marshaled every resource at its disposal to respond to the crisis, as well as the unprecedented economic recovery of the United States on a foundation of tax and regulatory cuts, energy independence, and fair trade deals'. "President Trump also reaffirmed the importance of the G20 working together for future economic growth and prosperity", she added.

CNN reported that Trump's name was not on the list of event speakers.

Politico said Trump's main message was: Vaccinate America first.

He was also proud of Operation Warp Speed, the push for the coronavirus vaccine in the United States, which only funded one of the two potential successful candidates.

Minutes after the weekend summit began, Trump started tweeting about the election results.

He continued to show off the U.S. economy and military, and repeated false claims that his government's Warp Speed operation was behind the first two successful vaccines for the coronavirus.

Trump has spent the two weeks since the election was called for President-elect Joe Biden mainly out of sight.

Trump tweeted several more times amid the G-20 summit, including on tweet claiming there would be "big voter fraud information coming out concerning Georgia".

Addressing reporters at the Rose Garden on Friday, Trump said that his administration will not advocate a national lockdown to stem the spread of coronavirus despite the alarming resurgence, The Hill news website reported. But noticeably absent was Trump, the leader of the country making up the largest share of confirmed coronavirus cases and deaths in the world.
