I’m exhausted of being blamed for everything at FC Barcelona, Messi says
Lionel Messi has fired back at claims that he is responsible for Antoine Griezmann's failure to acclimatise to life at Barcelona, with the Argentine stating that he is fed up of shouldering the blame for failures within the club.
Eric Olhats had accused Messi of having too much control at the club, saying his "reign of terror" had made life hard for Griezmann to adapt since his arrival in 2019.
Should head coach Ronald Koeman ultimately fail to deliver a major trophy by the end of the season, Rivaldo doesn't believe Messi will stick around at Camp Nou, especially given the fact the club may be unable to afford to keep on him such a lucrative contract after La Liga's decision to reduce its salary cap amid the coronavirus crisis.
"I am exhausted of always being the problem with everything that goes on at this club", Messi replied.
"Antoine arrived at a club with serious problems where Messi controls everything". He is both emperor and monarch and did not see Antoine's arrival with good eyes.
The Argentine had paid a customs tax when he landed on a private flight from Peru and exploded: "On top of that, after a 15-hour flight, I find myself in the hands of the tax authorities".
"We all know Suárez's quality from his time at Catalonia, but given the way he was "dismissed" from the club he would undoubtedly be motivated to punish his former club and show the Barca board that they made a mistake by letting him go". I've always heard Antoine say that he had no problems with Messi, but never the other way around. It is the regime of terror.
Barcelona's Lionel Messi reacts. There was a cancer in that club, and it obviously leaves some marks'.
The report states that a bid of possibly less than £50m may be enticing enough for the Spanish giants who are resigned to losing the six-time Ballon d'Or victor in just over seven months' time as a free agent. Barca are now fighting a debt of £440m and further financial chaos caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
