Dwight Howard Talks Married Life on The Rematch Podcast

REPORT: Anthony Davis Is Still Expected to Re-Sign with the Lakers, But Not Until At Least After Thanksgiving

Earlier Friday evening, Dwight Howard tweeted that he meant to re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers and proclaimed the city to be his rightful home. On Friday, Howard even announced on Twitter that he was staying with the Lakers.

Howard, the 34-year-old Los Angeles Lakers center, celebrated two major milestones in the fall of 2020: his Lakers took home the 2020 National Basketball Association championship, and he secretly tied the knot with his fiancée Te'a Cooper, a rookie with the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks. He said: "I would definitely like to come back and play for the Lakers again". Moments later, however, Howard, 34, deleted that tweet.

And then reports surfaced that indicated Howard was still considering all his options, despite the fact that Howard himself (!) declared he was returning to Los Angeles. Did some term of the deal with the Lakers change?

Dwight Howard is fresh off of an NBA Championship and wants a real guaranteed contract with more money for next season.

Howard was welcomed with open arms for the 2019-20 season, and he played hard all season. Howard averaged 7.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in the regular season, as well as 1.1 blocks.

The Los Angeles Lakers have interest in signing Marc Gasol in free agency. The Lakers signed Wesley Matthews to a one-year, $3.6 million deal.
