Ducati sprinkles some Superleggara magic on new track-focused Panigale V4 SP

The Ducati Supersport is an interesting proposition in the bikemaker's lineup.

Ducati has rolled out the updated 2021 range of the SuperSport 950 and the Panigale.

Created to trim "the fat", the Panigale V4 SP whittles the weight down to 173kg with the use of split-spoke carbon rims - 1.4kg lighter than the forged aluminium variants - while it also gets use of parts showcased on the Superleggara V4, including the same brake calipers and master cylinders, dry clutch and same chain size (520).

Apart from cosmetically updating the Supersport 950, Ducati has also made some crucial changes in making the Supersport 950 a better motorcycle than before. So there is the aggressive twin headlamp setup that is accompanied by brow-like LED DRLs and small air intakes on either side. Another addition on the Panigale V4 SP comes in the form of adjustable rider footpegs. That theme of greater comfort continues with a redesigned seat with different padding, a new material for the cover and more longitudinal space for the rider. It still makes the same 110hp at 9000rpm and 69lbft at 6500rpm. New aids include a Bosch 6-axis IMU that monitors the bike's lean angle to ensure confidence-building stability when cornering.

The fairing now also extends all the way to the exhaust endcan to cover the belly of the bike for a more up-to-date look and clean lines and a new 4.3-inch TFT dash is surrounded by the plastics and is used to control the bike's new electronics package and three riding modes; Sport, Touring and Urban, plus an electronic up and down quickshifter. Colour options are two and they are Ducati Red and Arctic White Silk (S variant only). While the standard motorcycle gets 43mm Marzocchi USD forks at the front and a Sachs monoshock at the rear, the 950S variant comes equipped with superior 48mm Ohlins USD front forks and an Ohlins rear monoshock.

The Supersport 950 could be launched in the Indian market sometime next year.
