Dortmund's Haaland crowned 2020 Golden Boy

Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland has been rewarded for his stunning exploits, named the 2020 Golden Boy recipient.

His form has seen him linked with a move away from the Signal Iduna Park but his father has come out to clarify that this is not the case and that his son remains focused on helping Dortmund achieve their goals. Erling Haaland's Awkward Reaction After Being Asked About Sleeping Alone Goes Viral, Fans Call The Question a Weird One (Watch Video).

And Norway worldwide Haaland - the leading contender - graced Saturday's front page of Tuttosport, beating the likes of Dortmund team-mate Jadon Sancho, Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies, Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood and Barcelona sensation Ansu Fati to the award.

With 33 goals in 34 matches so far in 2020 with Borussia Dortmund, RB Salzburg and Norway, Haaland is nearly averaging a goal a game and becomes the first Norwegian to win this prestigious award for up-and-coming youngsters. Haaland scored an unbelievable 44 goals in only 40 games last season, across all competitions and all clubs.

The Norwegian has joined an elite list of company to win the Golden Boy award.

Atletico Madrid's Joao Felix was the victor of the award in 2019 and Haaland overcame strong competition to land the prize for 2020. He scored eight times as the Austrian side crashed out of the Champions League in the group stage. At the moment it is not in my son or in my head that another club will compete for him.

"We signed a long contract with Dortmund and BVB have a fantastic team for Erling right now".

Borussia Dortmund stole a march and signed Haaland back in January despite interest from the likes of Manchester United. We don't want to look any further yet.

"You never know what can happen [in the future]". We haven't talked about that step yet. I think he wants to win trophies with Borussia. That's his goal. Erling can still achieve a great deal in Germany and make great progress. Moving overseas is not a priority for us.

"He just wants to be a better player and doesn't look too far ahead".
