Gavin Newsom issued a statewide curfew order on Thursday in an attempt to slow the spread of the CCP virus. It applies to "purple tier counties", which includes 41 of California's 58 counties.

California has reported a total of more than 1 million coronavirus cases and more than 18,000 deaths this year, according to the state health department.

Workers and gatherings deemed non-essential are prohibited from leaving their homes between 10 5 a.m., the Democratic governor said.

On Thursday, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva tweeted that since March, "we have focused on education and voluntary compliance, with criminal enforcement measures being an extreme last resort".

The cases topped Friday's record of 13,005 infections, bringing the total to nearly 1.1 million.

"The virus is spreading at a pace we haven't seen since the start of this pandemic, and the next several days and weeks will be critical to stop the surge".

"In light of the steep surge in positive cases we are now experiencing, and as with other COVID-19 orders created to protect the most vulnerable members of our community, the city of Fresno is asking our residents to voluntarily comply with the state's limited stay-at-home directive", Brand said.

On Nov. 19, Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.) said Newsom was exercising his free will when he attended the party.

Orange, Riverside, and Los Angeles County Sheriffs have all announced they will not be the Thanksgiving police.

"In light of an unprecedented, rapid rise in COVID-19 cases across California", the governor announced a "limited staty-at-home order" from 10 5 a.m., according to a press release.

The tightening of restrictions comes as California health officials say the state has recorded another record-breaking number in daily coronavirus cases. They will still be able to get medical care, pick up prescriptions and take care of other essential needs. "We may need to take more stringent actions if we are unable to flatten the curve quickly. Taking these hard, temporary actions now could help prevent future shutdowns". California is also strengthening its face covering guidance to require individuals to wear a mask whenever outside their home, with limited exceptions. The travel advisory urges against non-essential out-of-state travel, asks people to self-quarantine for 14 days after arriving from another state or country, and encourages residents to stay local.
