Swalwell Accuses Graham of Committing a Felony On Camera

Graham calls segregation 'good ol' days' and is forced to quickly clarify it was 'sarcasm

Barrett, nominated by President Donald Trump to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, responded, "That is correct".

He quickly got pummeled by his Democratic opponent for the quip.

"Lindsay Graham just called segregation 'the good old days, '" Harrison tweeted.

The overlapping bad optics of thanking the GOP for a hearing her own party blasts as a "sham", physically embracing an opposition senator who is now facing a stiff Democratic challenger, and publicly flouting CDC guidelines about the coronavirus unleashed a torrent of angry criticism at the six-term senator.

Graham told reporters during a recess that he was being sarcastic.

Democratic challenger Jaime Harrison tore into his political rival, Sen.

Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.) is next in line after Feinstein, but it is unclear whether he can hold a committee chairmanship while simultaneously being the Senate Democratic whip, which is the No. 2 position in the caucus and comes with its own security detail. Meanwhile, Republicans prominently featured Feinstein's comments and the hug with Graham in digital ads and press releases.

Graham had been discussing what are called "super-precedents" with Barrett, court cases where there's no question that they'll provide the basis for future decisions.

In Brown v. Board of Education, the court ruled in 1954 that "separate education facilities are inherently unequal", upending segregation policies at public education facilities across the country. Graham announced raising $28 million, which was the most every raised by a senator but still left him at a steep financial disadvantage in the closing weeks of the election.

South Carolina's three-term U.S. Sen.

"I think people in SC are excited about Judge Barrett", said Graham, who was wearing a mask despite his refusal to take a COVID19 test. According to a Civiqs poll, each candidate had the backing of 42 percent of registered voters.

Graham said Harrison's attack was "not worthy of the times in which we live" and "not worthy of an assault on me", Politico reported.

Both Graham and Harrison's images were above water among the state's voters, and both are well-known among the electorate.

Harrison set a Senate fundraising record, raising $57 million in the third quarter, beating out the previous record held by Rep. Beto O'Rourke for raising $38.1 million in his bid to oust Texas Republican Sen.
