Kansas Amber Alert: Father in custody, daughters recovered after 2 teens

Donny Jackson

Before the two boys were found dead, police pulled Jackson over at a traffic stop, at 12:35pm, and noticed that the two girls were in the auto.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation issued an Amber Alert for two girls under the age of 10 who went missing from a Leavenworth home.

The girls are three-year-old Aven Jackson and seven-year-old Nora Jackson.

Logan and Austin Jackson are pictured with their sisters Nora, 7, and Aven, 3, and a baby.

Donny Jackson, 40, was taken into custody on Saturday evening near Erick, Oklahoma, after a truck driver head on the radio that he was wanted, and alerted authorities.

It was at that home early Saturday afternoon where deputies responded just after 1 p.m.to find two boys - confirmed to be Jackson's sons - dead.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said it made an "unrelated auto stop" on Jackson's vehicle near the Kansas-Oklahoma border at 12:35 p.m. local time - just before the children were reported missing.

The abducted children were in the vehicle, according to an update posted on the KBI website.

The names of the slain boys weren't immediately released.

Two boys, ages 11 and 14, were found dead in the home, Sherley told CNN late Saturday.

Officers were initially called to the home, where they found two boys dead, and their siblings missing.

The location of their mother, Tara, was unknown.

Sherley said that multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the operation, including Kansas Highway Patrol, Kansas Bureau of Investigation, the FBI and the US Marshals office.

One of the children was supposed to be at a soccer game on Saturday, but did not turn up, the Kansas City Star reported.

Sherley said "there had been some back and forth with family" but that the motive wasn't clear.
