Kamala Harris halts travel amid campaign after staffer tests positive for COVID

Kamala Harris cancels campaign swing as two test positive for COVID - but Joe Biden is not affected

The Biden campaign is pausing all travel of Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris through the weekend after two people in Harris's circle have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to various sources. The Trump administration has been criticized for not providing the date of the last time the president tested negative before his positive diagnosis. In the meantime, remember: wear a mask, practice social distancing, and wash your hands regularly. "And by the way-" Trump said, pausing as his crowd began to boo.

Both Biden and Harris have been sending out greetings on Twitter to the Hindu community, one of the critical voting blocs in the USA presidential election slated for November 3. She was slated to travel Thursday to Asheville and Charlotte, North Carolina, for the state's first day of early voting.

One week ago on 8 October, Ms Harris and Mr Biden campaigned together in Arizona, where they held multiple appearances and interviews.

Harris was not in close contact with either individual, Biden campaign manager Jen O'Malley Dillon told the news outlet in a statement.

U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris are shown at a campaign event in Phoenix on October 8. Dillon said that duration didn't meet the CDC's threshold for constituting being in "close contact". Harris participated in Judge Amy Coney Barrett's confirmation hearings in the Senate this week but she worked from her Senate office and piped into the committee via camera. During the plane flight, Dillon said Harris, Allen and the non-staff flight crew were all wearing N95 masks and that the vice-presidential nominee "was not within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes with either of them".

"Given that he had no contact at any time with the two individuals, and given both his and Senator Harris's negative testing, he has not been exposed" and "will return to in-person campaigning" on Friday, Dillon said. O'Malley Dillon added that all other staffers on the flight have also tested negative since October 8. Harris wore a mask during the flight she shared with Allen and the flight crew member, who both tested negative before and after the flight.

The Harris team has said that they will conduct contact tracing for everyone who came into contact with the two infected individuals.
