Jared Leto is returning to the DC Comics fold, reprising his role as the Joker from 2016's "Suicide Squad" in Zack Snyder's new version of "Justice League".

Sources close to The Hollywood Reporter note that Oscar victor Leto recently joined the reshoots for Zack Snyder's Justice League, which many know Snyder says is the definitive version of the 2017 superhero movie he was forced to exit. Leto joins them, but it's unclear which other actors are involved in these reshoots. Warner Bros. announced a spinoff movie focusing on his version of The Joker, but most people assumed that project died when last year's Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix, came out and went on to break the all-time box office record for an R-rated film.

What the new scenes with Leto's Joker will be remains to be seen, though we know that he is now on set with Affleck, as well as Ray Fisher (Cyborg), and Amber Heard (Hera).

Zack Snyder's Justice League is slated to premiere on HBO Max sometime in 2021. Fisher, meanwhile, is also expected to participate in the additional photography for Snyder's new version of "Justice League". It is unknown whether Leto's character was originally slated to appear in 2017's Justice League, but his appearance will tie that film more directly to Suicide Squad, which featured Affleck's Batman in a brief cameo as he chased Leto's Joker and Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn through the streets of Gotham.

Through the making of "Suicide Squad", Leto made headlines for staying in character because the Joker and pulling heinous pranks on his co-stars. Each producers had been Warner Bros. executives on the time of the theatrical launch however have since left the studio and should not concerned within the Snyder Minimize.

Speaking of Fisher, THR also notes that Geoff Johns and Jon Berg will not receive any credit for Zack Snyder's Justice League.

In 2016, eight years after Heath Ledger gave his Oscar-winning performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight, Jared Leto gave his take on the Clown Prince of Crime for Suicide Squad, the third DC Extended Universe movie. Perhaps Joker appearing in The Snyder Cut will finally change that.
