Indian Premier League 2020, MI vs KXIP | Kings rule after incredible finish

The dramatic has now become predictable for Kings XI Punjab this season

However, Mohammed Shami bowled an equally incredible over as KXIP defended the five runs to take the match to a second Super Over.

However, what transpired after that was a treat to the eyes as Kieron Pollard (unbeaten 34 off 12) and Coulter-Nile (24 not out off 12) collected 54 runs in the last three overs to take their side to an imposing total on a hard double-paced track. The left-hander continued his good run of form to bring up his third successive half-century and did a fine rebuilding job with Krunal Pandya after MI lost three wickets in the powerplay, with not more than 43 runs on the board.

Earlier, de Kock hit three fours and as many sixes for his fourth fifty of the tournament to anchor the innings before Pollard and Coulter-Nile lifted MI past the 170-run mark.

Batting in the unusual position of four in the order, Warner made an unbeaten 47 off 33 balls as Sunrisers managed to get 17 runs off the final over to level the scores.

Agarwal finished things off with consecutive boundaries as the KXIP got over the line with two balls to spare.

Earlier, Mumbai scored 176/6 in 20 overs after Sharma won the toss and chose to bat.

However, some lusty hitting from Pollard (34no from 12), ably assisted by Nathan Coulter-Nile (24no from 12), took Mumbai up to a competitive 176-6. Mumbai Indians got off to a bad start as they lost three wickets inside the Powerplay, with skipper Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan all back in the pavillion.

Kings XI lost the in-form Agarwal early in the reply, bowled by Bumrah, before Rahul shared useful partnerships with Gayle (24 from 21) and Nicholas Pooran (24 from 12) to keep the IPL strugglers in contention.

Deepak Hooda (23 not out off 16 balls) and Chris Jordan (13 off 8) collected 13 runs the penultimate over to once again shift the tide in their side's favour. On the last ball of the over, Bumrah delivered a flawless yorker and trapped Rahul LBW and helped MI restrict KXIP to 5/2.

Needing 24 off 15 balls, Hooda and Jordan (13) tied the match.

Rahul started the proceedings with a single before Pooran got out on the second ball. Just five runs conceded.

MI batted first in the Second Over and opened the innings with Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya, with Suryakumar Yadav waiting in the wings as the third batsman. We then went in for a second Super Over. Boult had held his nerve to take it to the last ball and hit his yorker again, Jordan pushed it out towards long on but seemed to take a long route back for the second. Not even close. Shami kept Rohit and De Kock to singles for the first three balls then nailed his yorker to Rohit for a priceless dot ball.

Rahul and Pooran then added 33 runs together.

Agarwal was there and jumped as the ball went over his head before somehow managing to claw it back into play, turning a certain six into just two.
