Getafe vs Barcelona: I am in charge - Koeman fires warning at Griezmann

Koeman will not give Messi rest and will align him against

FC Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman had words of advice for striker Antoine Griezmann ahead of Barca's La Liga clash away to Getafe on Saturday evening.

Griezmann, 29, has started all three of Barcelona's opening La Liga fixtures on the right side of a trio of attackers but was deployed in a central role by France manager Didier Deschamps during the worldwide break, where he scored during Wednesday's 2-1 win against Croatia. I do not play any players out of position.

'The coach knows where to put me, ' Griezmann said about national team manager Didier Deschamps. "We talked about his position and his performance", said Koeman on Friday. He could also play as a No 10 or a No 9. But I decide what is best for the team.

Asked how Griezmann can improve, Koeman said: "He is doing all he can, which is to work hard, to be disciplined and have some luck". In the France vs Netherlands game, he played on the right wing. The coach is in charge and the players must be at their best when they play'.

"I have no problem with Antoine". I look for the best and try to get the best out of everyone.

Barcelona face Getafe on Saturday and Ronald Koeman has announced the Blaugrana squad list which includes Junior Firpo who has overcome discomfort in his left hamstring. He trained with the first-team before the game, as witnessed by "Mundo Deportivo".

"Everyone has come back with enthusiasm and joy".

Messi played 180 minutes - including 90 at an altitude of 3,650 metres in La Paz - as Argentina began their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign with wins over Ecuador and Bolivia.

'He can play in three positions. I ask how they are, if they are exhausted.

"Leo has spent many years playing in a tight schedule, and if he doesn't play then he feels even more exhausted", Koeman added.

"He is a player who if he does not play is more exhausted". If there is a medical issue, it's another matter.

After a whirlwind summer which culminated in Lionel Messi pushing for the exit doors and Koeman returning to his former club in less than ideal circumstances, the Dutchman has done well to somewhat steady the ship.Three unbeaten games thus far makes for positive reading, with a 1-1 draw against Sevilla last time out the only blemish on an otherwise faultless start for Koeman in the Camp Nou hotseat.Barca now sit fifth in the table with Getafe just two places below them but level on points. Also considering the fact that they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Sevilla, Lionel Messi & Co will be eager to hit the winning note. But Getafe are expected to give Roland Koeman's heavyweights a tough time. "I think it's going to be too early for him".
