Bangalore, who finished last of the eight teams in two of the past three seasons, begin their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dubai next Monday. The right-handed batsman highlighted that they might not have the best side; however, there is a fresh feel in the team and oozes excitement. The credit goes to Virat Kohli, he sets an example and leads the team.

"It is great to be here (UAE)", De Villiers said on RCB's Bold Diaries. He leads by example, he sets new standard. "It is pretty easy to follow when you have a captain who is always leading from the front", he added. Sometimes injuries happen and you are out for six or seven months. The former highlighted that he has often had this experience when the team's schedule inadvertently gave a two months break or in case of an injury that keeps one at rest for nearly half a year. There is a different feel in the team that I can't explain, but it is very exciting.

"The feeling of uncertainty and doubts, 'Will I be able to reach that level again?' It is normal to have a feeling like that". "It " s unbelievable how you can get back into the groove, nothing guarantees performance, but that " s the beauty of sport, you never know what to expect".

Despite making the finals on three occasions, they have nothing to show.

However, the South African superstar is hopeful this year.

"It's a tricky one because we say that (we'll improve) every season".

But for the former South Africa skipper de Villiers to say that he sees a lot of himself in young Australian batsman Josh Philippe has to be the biggest compliment for the 23-year-old. There are options in every single department - batting, bowling fielding, you name it. It's not just AB is going to play every game, Parthiv is going to play every game or Dale Steyn.

"There is a different feel this time, there is back up everywhere looking at our options".

"I am not really used to these type of conditions, it is very hot, it reminds me of a Test match we played in Chennai where Viru scored 309, that's the hottest conditions I have ever played in".

Speaking in a video on Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) official App, de Villiers said he is keen to have the youngster around as RCB look to win their maiden IPL title. "They have done a commendable work to get the IPL going and we are all very excited", he said.
