Oculus Quest 2 VR headset revealed

The Facebook Blueprint website now lists the Quest 2 alongside a 3-minute introductory video.

The Quest 2 will be using the Snapdragon XR2 platform from Qualcomm.

The videos included live demos of the headset, as well as a detailed breakdown of the Oculus Quest 2's specs. Which is something that Oculus Rift S owners, including myself, are fearful of as Facebook looks to be pushing the Quest as its premium headset and possibly abandoning the Rift S. Of course, that's all speculation, we'll know more during the Facebook Connect which takes place in a few weeks.

In terms of the lenses and resolution, we're getting nearly 2K per eye, that's more than 50% more pixels than the original Quest, making it "the highest resolution headset we've ever made". RAM has also been upped to 6GB from 4GB, and storage is doubled to 256GB.

The wearable boasts an "almost 4K display", one video says, translating to roughly "2K per eye".

Facebook approached this by making the headset smaller than the original model and lighter too.

What can we expect from Oculus Quest 2?

"Set up is easy, and in no time, you'll be immersed in an expansive library of wonderful games and experiences".

The Facebook Blueprint website reveals promotional videos, internal specifications and more, although price and release date were sadly not mentioned. The headset will also utilise the Oculus Link, which lets you connect to a VR-ready desktop and play games that the Quest 2 wouldn't normally be able to handle on its own.

As of now, there is no official announcement about the Oculus Quest 2. The Quest has an OLED display with a 1440 X 1600 resolution, and the video above states that the Quest 2 will have the highest resolution of any headset from Ocolus so far.
