LG Wing with Swiveling Screen, Snapdragon 765G & 64MP Triple Cameras Goes Official

LG Wing 5G is a dual-screen phone with a unique design, mid-range specs

LG Wing will be launched in South Korea next month, but the quirky smartphone will arrive in North America (AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile) and Europe as well, we just don't know when exactly. LG has recognized this and announced the Wing, where the main screen swivels on a hinge to reveal a half-size second one. So, for example, you could be watching a movie or video on the main screen in landscape view while keeping an eye on your Twitter feed or chat app with the other. However, we've seen an upturn in fortunes in recent times, with the dual-screen format shaking things up-whether it's the Galaxy Z Fold 2, the smaller Z Flip, or even the Microsoft Surface Duo.

"LG WING's two displays and revolutionary form factor facilitate new ways to engage with certain apps and features, making it far easier to multitask", LG said.

The second display also adds to the thickness and bulk of the phone, although not as much as, say, the self-contained full-size screen cases that LG's used in the past.

The Gimbal Motion Camera, the world's first in a smartphone, turns the LG WING's Second Screen into a convenient grip, providing the stability needed to capture clearer shots and smooth video footage in horizontal mode with one hand, normally hard to accomplish with conventional bar-type smartphones. And it has three rear cameras: A 64 MP main lens, a 12 MP ultra-wide lenses with big pixels, and a 13 MP ultra-wide lens.

LG's partnerships with other streaming platforms such as Rave and Ficto means that LG WING owners can enjoy videos full screen while simultaneously interacting with other viewers via the Second Screen.

Meanwhile in front, instead of relying on a notch or a punch-hole for its selfie cam, the Wing features a motorised pop-up cam to help reduce distractions and really maximise that large 6.8-inch screen. The main screen has a 20.5:9 aspect ratio and 395ppi of pixel density.

In terms of the camera, the phone has a 32-megapixel pop-up camera. There is also a hexa-motion stabiliser.

The Wing is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G mobile platform and the Snapdragon X52 5G Modem-RF system.

"The Gimbal Motion Camera, the world's first in a smartphone, turns the LG WING's Second Screen into a convenient grip, providing the stability needed to capture clearer shots and smooth video footage in horizontal mode with one hand, normally hard to accomplish with conventional bar-type smartphones", LG said. It uses one of the ultra-wide cameras and lets you control the camera angle using a joystick, FPV lock, a follow and pan mode, and a lot more.

The LG Wing comes in 128GB and 256GB of onboard storage options that both are expandable via microSD card (up to 2TB). LG WING also comes with LG Creator's Kit, a collection of advanced imaging solutions including Timelapse Control, Voice Bokeh and ASMR Recording.
