Kelly Clarkson calls divorce from Brandon Blackstock the worst thing ever

Kelly Clarkson says life has been

As we reported yesterday, the former American Idol victor was adamant that she'd be keeping her split from Brandon Blackstock fairly close to the vest, rather than letting at all hang out.

Clarkson, who shares two kids with Blackstock and is stepmother to two more from his previous relationship, says she has been finding much-needed support from those in her circle who have experience.

She told "Today" she's been channeling her emotions into her new album, set to be released next year, which she described as probably "the most personal one I've ever released". "Personally, it's been a little hard the last couple of months". "I've been talking to friends that have been through divorce", she said. "I don't know how people go through that without having some kind of outlet because it is the worst thing ever for everyone involved". "They were always such a loving family", the insider also admitted.

Things haven't exactly been smooth sailing for Clarkson lately.

Meanwhile, it was previously claimed Kelly is keen to make her children a priority amid her divorce, as well as keeping communication open between herself and her former step-kids. "Thank you so much to @BBlackstock for believing in me & convincing me to do @KellyClarksonTV", she shouted out to him on Twitter. "You won the Emmy for outstanding...' and I was, like, 'What?!'" she continued. It's been very therapeutic for me. It's very honest. There's one [new song] that my kids sing in the auto.

Her relationship woes have helped inspire her next album, out next year. Clarkson admits it does get a little weird playing the personal music with her kids listening and even singing along. "But whatever. It is what it is"'. She explained why the divorce has been the worst thing ever.

"Wow. Shaming a woman who has a great work ethic, is a great mom, and who steps up and fills in when a friends asks for a favor because that's actually what "good old country girls" do", she hit back, referring to her filling in for Simon Cowell on America's Got Talent.
