How many COVID-19 cases were recorded in B.C

For the second time in a week, New Mexico had no new coronavirus deaths to report Monday, leaving the death toll unchanged at 823 residents.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 2,557 cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 3,754 in the Fraser Health region, 195 in the Island Health region, 473 in the Interior Health region, 216 in the Northern Health region and 84 cases of people who reside outside of Canada, authorities reported.

Of the total COVID-19 cases, 58 individuals are hospitalized, 16 of whom are in intensive care. The gap between recovered cases and active cases is consistently increasing.

Three men from Brownsville, two women and a man from Harlingen, three women from La Feria and one woman and three men from San Benito are among the dead.

"We know COVID-19 has not been without challenge and loss", said provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix in a joint statement Friday.

The number of active cases, which counts people with confirmed COVID-19 cases still in their isolation period, rose from 120 on Friday to 134 on Monday.

The number of new infections detected by testing also fell - to just 81, less than half of the state's target of 168 or fewer cases a day.

The county also reported that an additional 223 people recovered from the coronavirus, raising that total to 18,662.

The county has averaged about 24 new cases per day over the last 14 days, according to a 14-day moving average graph updated weekdays by the health department.

Altogether, the state has confirmed 26,842 cases of COVID-19 since March.

The total number of confirmed cases there remains at 1,148.
