Eric Reid blasts Roger Goodell, says he should apologize to Colin Kaepernick

NFL New York Giants at Carolina Panthers

Now, however, Reid is also on the outside looking in, as he is still a free agent despite playing effectively for the Carolina Panthers over the past two seasons. In retweeting a Deadspin article focused on his former reammate Eric Reid and his alleged blackballing from the NFL, Kaepernick blasted the league's social justice efforts, calling out what he sees as hypocrisy or at least a double standard. "@nflcommish has gotten comfortable saying he "was wrong" as if his mere acknowledgement reconciles his admitted wrongdoing".

"While the National Football League runs propaganda about how they care about Black Life", Kaepernick tweeted, "they are still actively blackballing Eric Reid (@E_Reid35) for fighting for the Black community".

When the Panthers signed Reid in September 2018, it was a few weeks into that season and several months after the NFL Players Association filed a grievance with the league on his behalf over his unemployment.

"He hasn't even called Colin to apologize, let alone reconcile, proving this is only PR for the current business climate".

Kaepernick seemed angry about the fact that a former teammate of his, Eric Reid, is still a free agent and hasn't yet been picked up by a team, Fox News reports.

"As such, Roger Goodell uses video of Colin courageously kneeling to legitimize their disingenuous PR while simultaneously perpetuating systemic oppression, that the video he's using fights against, by continuing to rob Colin of his career".

Mr. Reid and Mr. Kaepernick reached a financial settlement previous year with the NFL in their joint collusion complaint against the league after alleging it had conspired to keep them out in retaliation for their social justice activism.

The NFL did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

On Sunday, there were social justice initiatives everywhere.
