On Friday, the disgraced movie mogul had his honorary CBE award recognizing his contribution to the United Kingdom film industry removed.

Weinstein and his brother Bob co-produced via Miramax, which they used to run, U.S./U.K.co-production "Shakespeare in Love" (1998) that won seven Oscars, including best picture and best supporting actress for Judi Dench, playing Queen Elizabeth I.

A Grand Jury then voted to indict Harvey Weinstein on charges of Rape in the First and Third Degrees, and Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, where Weinstein pleaded not guilty. Back in 2017, the movie producer was accused of almost 30 years of sexual misconduct, claims which he has continued to deny.

In March, the 68-year-old was sentenced to 23 years in prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting former assistant Mimi Haleyi in 2006, and raping aspiring actress Jessica Mann in 2013.

Accusations by dozens of women in 2017 led to the end of his career and helped spur #MeToo - a global movement demanding that powerful men be held accountable for their sexual misconduct.

Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, who is serving 23 years in prison in the USA for rape and sexual assault, has been stripped of his honorary Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by the ruling of the Queen.

Honours can been removed on the advice of the forfeiture committee and with the approval of the Queen. Weinstein and his brother Bob's company Miramax had produced many feature films in the United Kingdom, perhaps most notably the 1998 seven-time Oscar victor "Shakespeare in Love" starring Judi Dench (playing Queen Elizabeth I), Gwyneth Paltrow, and Joseph Fiennes.
