Cynthia Nixon Calls JK Rowling's Anti-Trans Tweets 'Baffling'

Robbie Coltrane has starred on TV and in films

J.K. Rowling after sparking chaos earlier has wreaked havoc on social media once again after the release of her new book which has been labelled "transphobic".

" much more blatantly does Rowling have to out herself as a transphobe for y'all to stop buying her books and publishers to drop her?"

For many, Troubled Blood only reaffirms Rowling's already apparent transphobic beliefs.

"I'm concerned about the huge explosion in young women wishing to transition and also about the increasing numbers who seem to be detransitioning (returning to their original sex), because they regret taking steps that have, in some cases, altered their bodies irrevocably, and taken away their fertility", she wrote.

"I really hope that you don't entirely lose what was valuable in these stories to you". I'd march with you if you were discriminated against on the basis of being trans. "I do not believe it's hateful to say so". Meanwhile, fellow author Paris Lees tweeted, "Maybe there's a twist in JK Rowling's book and the killer's really a "real" woman or something, but it's reasonable to assume the worst when she's spent all year being hostile to trans people and stays silent when Republican senators quote her while blocking votes on LGBTQ rights". "We are regularly killed based on the idea that 1) we're predators and 2) we aren't real". The meme jokingly announced that other celebrities-from Emma Watson to Lady Gaga-"wrote the entire Harry Potter series". People who are trans already face loads of discrimination from people about what bathrooms they use and they probably don't need the world fearing they might be dressing in clothes to help them be a serial killer.

"It's an entirely common though insulting trope about trans women - that they are aggressive and unable to overcome their masculine nature, not to mention villainous - that has become all too common from cisgender authors with only a passing knowledge of trans people".

Robbie Coltrane, who played Hagrid in the Harry Potter franchise, recently defended the author over accusations of transphobia. I don't know why but there's a whole Twitter generation of people who hang around waiting to be offended. "They wouldn't have won the war, would they?" "Wise up, stand up straight and carry on'".

When contacted by The Independent, Rowling's representatives declined to comment. In "Troubled Blood", Strike and Robin are investigating a decades-old disappearance, and "they come up against a fiendishly complex case with leads that include tarot cards, a psychopathic serial killer and witnesses who can not all be trusted", according to the book's synopsis.
