Botany girl the latest COVID-19 case in New Zealand

There are three new Covid-19 cases today - all at the border. Now 56 people who belong to the community cluster are housed in the Auckland Quarantine Center. "Not because they are against the Government's Covid-19 response, but because they have applied their own "common sense" test to their risk of exposure to the virus", said Mr Peters.

"As stated by the Director General, 'this outbreak continues to best fit the description of Alert Level 2 in Auckland (with limited community transmission occurring), and Alert Level 1 elsewhere (with a low risk of cases spreading from Auckland, and no evidence yet that spread has in fact happened)'". They have been in managed isolation at the Ibis Hotel in Rotorua and tested positive for COVID-19 during routine testing around day 3 of their stay, according to the Ministry of Health.

Large crowds of people rallied in Auckland on Saturday against the government's social distancing restrictions imposed on the country's largest city after an outbreak of the novel coronavirus last month.

There are now four people in hospital with Covid-19, with two in ICU, it said.

"Since August 11, our contact tracing team has identified 3779 close contacts of cases, of which 3772 have been contacted and are self-isolating, and we are in the process of contacting the rest". Two cases are in the ICU at North Shore Hospital and Waikato Hospital.

With Monday's new case and two additional recovered cases, the country's total number of active cases is 96.

"Of those, 28 are imported cases in MIQ facilities, and 55 are community cases".

New Zealand's total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 is now 1,450, while the death toll stood at 24.

Contacts from the gym classes the case attended are being assessed by Auckland Regional Public Health staff.

The ministry said casual contacts, including those who were at the gym at the same time as the Jet Park nurse but not in the same classes, were being advised to isolate and be tested on a case-by-case basis.

And there are now 2.2 million users registered with the NZ Covid Tracer app. As of Monday, 368,745 QR codes have been created to be displayed by businesses nationwide.
