Apple Updates iPad Air With All-Screen Look, Lifts Price to $599

Apple 8th-gen iPad, new iPad Air launched, price starts at ₹29,990

Apple unveiled a redesigned iPad Air during its Tuesday product launch that features a major facelift thanks to a new form of Touch ID.

And it is that the new light Apple tablet does not have a Home button, although it does have TouchID integrated into the power button on the top.

It has an all-screen, edge-to-edge design on the 10.9 inch liquid retina display.

The most significant feature will be the 6 core CPU and the 4 core GPU underlying the device that will be powered by an A14 bionic, that can handle all complex programs under the hood. And for the first time, Neural Engine is arriving in tow with the A12 Bionic chip. Pairing it with the Apple Pencil and a keyboard makes it a true triple threat.

Of course, the new iPad Air also comes with iPadOS 14 which Apple touted heavily onstage during its keynote.

To keep costs down, the iPad Air keeps a Touch ID fingerprint scanner instead of the Face ID facial recognition system used on the iPad Pro. You get a 10.2-inch Retina display with a physical Home button and a new A12 Bionic processor.

Appleosophy has obtained the wallpapers from the iPad Air, which you can download below.

In terms of price and availability, the iPad 8 is now available to order starting Friday, September 18, with a starting price of $ 329 for the Wi-Fi model and $ 459 for the Wi-Fi + mobile model.

The fourth-generation iPad Air is by far the most well-equipped in terms of taking photos or recording videos, even if the 8th-gen iPad is not too bad either (especially the rear camera). The new iPad Air will be available in either 64GB and 256GB storage options.

However, knowing that past year Apple said the A13 Bionic brought a 20% speed increase across the board over the A12 Bionic, we can estimate the 2020 chipset to have a 17% faster CPU and 8% better GPU than its predecessor. We aren't sure how much of this is down to the new screen and how much to the chipset, but it still bodes well for the battery life of the iPhone 12 lineup.

The screen will also be borderless and comes in five colors: silver, space gray, sky blue, green, and rose gold. The Magic Keyboard and the Smart Keyboard Folio for iPad Air will be available for Rs 27,900 and Rs 15, 900, respectively. We'll circle back once preorders start.
