United States court unseals Maxwell-Epstein emails

Maxwell denied these accusations in a 2016 deposition, calling Giuffre an "absolute liar". Maxwell was arrested earlier this month and is in jail in NY awaiting trial on child-sex-trafficking charges.

Giuffre described her time on the island as, "My whole life revolved around just pleasing these men and keeping Ghislaine and Jeffrey happy". He admitted to flying with Epstein to the Bahamas, although the flight apparently occurred after Giuffre says she'd cut all ties with Epstein. Though Giuffre settled the case two years later and its related files were placed under seal, another suit brought by conservative blogger Mike Cernovich and the Miami Herald last year saw those pages released on Thursday night. Otherwise, prosecutors said, the women may be harassed or intimidated and become reluctant to cooperate with the government.

A United States appeals court has ruled to hold back a deposition about the sex life of Ghislaine Maxwell, who is accused of aiding Jeffrey Epstein's abuse of underage girls, with her lawyers arguing it would make a fair trial "impossible".

When making her 2016 deposition in support of the lawsuit, Ms Giuffre was asked about men Maxwell was alleged to have told her to have sex with and, naming individuals, said "another prince that I don't know his name". The FBI and Richards did not respond to requests for comment. She said the couple subsequently pressured her into having sex with numerous rich or notable men, including the Duke of York, US politicians, wealthy entrepreneurs, a famous scientist and fashion designer. Maxwell has denied the allegations against her.

Among the newly released documents were emails Ms Maxwell and Epstein exchanged in January 2015, when Ms Giuffre's allegations were getting a new round of media attention.

Attorney Alan Dershowitz denied claims by Jeffrey Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre he was involved in sexual abuse ring allegedly run by Epstein.

One email, sent from Epstein's email address but written in Maxwell's voice, appeared to be a draft statement or set of talking points for Maxwell to use in defending herself.

"I demanded release of all documents because they contain emails and manuscripts proving in Guiffre's own words that she never met me", Dershowitz said. She faces six counts, including perjury, and up to 35 years in prison if convicted.

Epstein purportedly committed suicide in his jail cell a year ago while facing child-sex-trafficking charges. Maxwell was recently arrested on federal charges that she recruited at least three girls, including one as young as 14, for Epstein to sexually abuse in the 1990s.

Maxwell's trial is scheduled for next July.

Prince Andrew allegedly lobbied the USA government on Jeffrey Epstein's behalf so he would receive a "favourable" plea deal for an underage prostitution case in 2008, according to newly-released court documents.

Virginia Roberts Giuffre stated in her deposition that she was recruited by Maxwell to work as a traveling masseuse.

Virginia Roberts Giuffre speaks during a press conference outside a Manhattan court in NY on August 27, 2019.

Giuffre spoke to "CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King in July, and told her "you couldn't say no" to Epstein and Maxwell from her position because "you're afraid for your life".
