Simon Cowell injures back while testing electric bicycle

Simon Cowell is on the mend after a minor accident.

United States entertainment trade website the Hollywood Reporter says the record executive was test-riding his bike at home in Malibu when he fell.

Reality TV mogul Simon Cowell has broken his back after falling off his electric bike near his Malibu home.

In later correspondence with the Hollywood Reporter, the spokesperson added: "Simon has broken his back and will be having surgery this evening [Saturday]". He was taken to a hospital and was said to be under observation and doing fine.

It is understood the surgery started on Saturday evening Los Angeles time.


Cowell has a six-year-old son Eric with his partner Lauren Silverman.

Britain's Got Talent star Simon Cowell will reportedly undergo surgery after he fell off his bike while out in Malibu, California.

The Got Talent format airs in 76 markets, while The X Factor is broadcast in more than 130 territories.

Last year, his company Syco Entertainment teamed up with a Chinese-based company, the Shanghai Media Group, to create a talent show, "The Magnificent Dancer".
