The actress was laid to rest on July 24th at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles following a drowning accident almost two weeks ago in Lake Piru.

A search first began for the missing star on Wednesday, July 8 after she failed to return a pontoon boat to the facilities following her three-hour rental window.

CNN reports that she was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on 24 July.

"The doc listed the cause of death as "drowning" and says Rivera died within a manner of "[minutes]". Per People, it also states that there were no other significant conditions that contributed to her death.

He said that there are several currents that can pop up in the lake, especially in the afternoon, which is when Rivera and her four-year-old son were on Lake Piru. Her son Josey was found alone on the boat napping around 4 p.m. and told authorities his mom went swimming but never came back to the boat.

"She mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself", Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said.

Rivera, who had experience boating on that lake, played cheerleader Santana Lopez on musical drama Glee for six seasons, from 2009 to 2015.

Rivera's ex-husband - and Josey's father - Ryan Dorsey broke his silence on social media about the accident one day after Rivera's burial.
