Lazio's Immobile wins Serie A Golden Boot and European Golden Shoe

Lazio marksman Ciro Immobile to win European Golden Shoe after Cristiano Ronaldo is LEFT OUT of Juventus squad

Cristiano Ronaldo will be rested for Juventus' final match of the Serie A season on Saturday against Roma, ahead of the Italians' Champions League last-16 second leg against Lyon next week.

Higuain turned in from close range just six minutes in after pouncing on Adrien Rabiot's flick from Federico Bernardeschi's corner.

But Diego Perotti inspired a Roma fightback setting up Nikola Kalinic to nod in the equaliser after 23 minutes.

Perotti stretched the lead seven minutes into the second half, sweeping home inside the area - via a deflection off Merih Demiral - after collecting Nicolo Zaniolo's perfectly weighted pass.

Immobile will also win the European Golden Shoe for the continent's top scorer this term, having overtaken Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski's tally of 34 in midweek.

Immobile outscored the likes of Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski (34), Ronaldo (31) and Lionel Messi (25) this season in a campaign where experienced strikers shone, with 33-year-old Jamie Vardy ending as the Premier League's Golden Boot victor with 23.

Immobile became only the second player in the 123-year long history of Italy's top flight to net 36 goals in a single campaign, equalling Gonzalo Higuain's record.

The Turin side, last beaten on their own ground in a Serie A match by Napoli in April 2018, have lost both their games since clinching the title one week ago and finished the campaign with 83 points, one ahead of Inter Milan.

In the San Siro, Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed a penalty but scored his 10th league goal since January as AC Milan finished with a 3-0 win over Cagliari.
