India registers lowest COVID-19 mortality rate at global level

India sees daily record of 52,000 COVID-19 cases

India reported a new report surge this early morning in coronavirus circumstances with far more than 57,118 fresh new infections in the past 24 several hours, taking the total quantity of situations to 16,95,988.

The COVID-19 Case Fatality Rate (CFR) in India has improved to 2.15 percent from 3.33 percent in mid-June, said an official statement issued by the federal health ministry on Saturday. The total number of confirmed cases also includes foreigners.

The recovery rate stands at 64.53% amongst COVID-19 patients, it added. It was the fifth consecutive day with more than 60,000 infections recorded, according to the Baltimore-based university, reports AFP.

The Indian Council of Medical Research informed that a total number of COVID-19 samples tested up to 30 July is 1,88,32,970 including 6,42,588 samples tested on Friday.

Maharashtra, Delhi and Tamil Nadu which were once seeing an upward trend in the infection tally have now seen a reduction in the number of cases registered per day. According to the data of the Ministry of Health, there are now 5 lakh 67 thousand 730 active cases of corona in the country.


It took 183 days for India to cross 16 lakh coronavirus cases.

At the same time, 14 people died in Bihar and Telangana, 12 in Jammu and Kashmir, and 11 in Rajasthan.

A Central Group of Ministers meeting, under the chairmanship of Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, was held at Nirman Bhawan on Friday on the COVID-19 situation in the country.

Ten fatalities were reported from Madhya Pradesh, eight from Odisha, four each from Assam, Haryana and Uttarakhand, three each from Goa, Jharkhand, Kerala, two from Chhattisgarh while Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Manipur and Puducherry recorded one fatality each.

According to John Hopkins University, there are now more than 17.5 million cases reported around the globe, as well as more than 679,000 deaths. It is followed by Tamil Nadu, which has 2,39,978 cases and then Delhi, which logged 1,34,403 cases.
