5 sacks last season and is expected to be a first-round pick in the 2021 National Football League draft.

Miami defensive lineman Gregory Rousseau (15) celebrates a turnover and wears the turnover chain during the first half of an NCAA college football game against Central Michigan, Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, in Miami Gardens, Fla.

"As a coach, we are for these young men and advocates for them", Diaz said Thursday, according to Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports.

Rousseau (6-foot-7, 265 pounds, per school measurements) enjoyed a breakout season in 2019, earning first-team All-ACC honors after compiling a league-high 15.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss. Rousseau would have been a third-year sophomore this fall.

Purdue's electric wide receiver Rondale Moore joined the list of those opting out, announcing his decision with a statement on Twitter.

"We want what's best for him", Diaz said.

"This is a bittersweet decision because I always assumed I had more great moments at Ross-Ade Stadium ahead of me, and I will greatly miss the entire community".

His efforts meanwhile saw him become the first true freshman consensus All-American in Big Ten history.

After Virginia Tech cornerback prospect Caleb Farley opted out, others are following suit.
