Socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, driven by Britain's Prince Andrew leaves the wedding of a former girlfriend of the prince, Aurelia Cecil, at the Parish Church of St Michael in Compton Chamberlayne near Salisbury, England on September 2, 2000.
Ms. Maxwell, 58, incarcerated since her July 2 arrest at her New Hampshire estate, has pleaded not guilty to charges alleging she sometimes joined in the abuse of the girls, which included one who was 14.
The perjury charges pertain to Ms Maxwell's answers to questions posed by lawyers in the civil case, including whether Epstein had a scheme to recruit underage girls for sexual massages.
"I don't know what you're talking about", Maxwell responded, Gee noted.
A U.S. judge on Wednesday denied Ghislaine Maxwell's last-ditch effort to keep a potentially damaging deposition from becoming public, as the jailed British socialite defends herself against criminal charges that she aided the late financier Jeffrey Epstein's sexual abuse of girls.
Giuffre's lawyer, Sigrid McCawley, argued that public interest in the case "weighs in favor of unsealing Maxwell's deposition, not against it".
The lawyers also expressed "substantial concern" that any witnesses, including Maxwell's alleged victims, "will seek to use discovery materials to support their civil cases and future public statements".
