Coronavirus: Quebec and Alberta lead Canada in new reported cases

Ontario reports 89 new coronavirus cases 2nd day in a row with cases under 100

The number of resolved cases in the province is at 34,906, which means that 89 per cent of cases have been resolved.

Ontario processed over 30,000 COVID-19 tests over the last day.

There are 1,397 active cases in the province, including those that are hospitalized, 84 of which are in the ICU; 248 of active cases are in Ottawa.

Manitoba health officials identified three new cases of COVID-19, but also announced that one case, which was reported on July 25, has been removed from its total case count.

Neither the Northwest Territories or Yukon reported any new cases or deaths related to COVID-19 on Wednesday.

For the second straight day, the province of Ontario is reporting fewer than 100 new cases of COVID-19.

The numbers follow an announcement from the province on Wednesday that Toronto and Peel regions would be entering Stage 3 of the economic reopening.

The province reported 76 cases on Wednesday and 111 on Tuesday.

Those in the 20-29 age group are still reporting the most amount of cases over time with 6,326, with those between 50-59 years of age account of 6,240 cases overall.

In its long-term care homes, two more residents have contracted the virus, along with six members of staff, though there have been no new deaths in either category.

Health authorities said no new deaths tied to the virus were recorded. There remain four active cases in the province, which were all identified last week.

Twenty-eight of the province's total cases are considered "epidemiologically linked", meaning they have not been confirmed by laboratory tests.

This two-day trend will likely come as welcome news to those who are anxious about the possibility of a surge in new cases thanks to Stage 3, though health officials continue to warn that the virus remains in circulation and it is as important as ever to continue following public health advice.
