Man City close in on £40m deal for Bournemouth defender Ake

Valencia's Ferran Torres vies with Real Madrid's Ferland Mendy

Man City reportedly negotiated a £40 million transfer fee with the Cherries, who got relegated to the Championship, with the deal potentially rising by £1 million depending on the clauses.

Manchester United could throw a major wrench in Manchester City's plans as the latter recently agreed to sign Bournemouth defender Nathan Aké for the price of a £41million bid.

The 20-year-old winger is on his way to Manchester City this summer and the Premier League giants have already agreed on a fee with Valencia.

The 25-year-old is a homegrown player and can also provide cover at left-back.

A deal for Torres is also expected to be announced soon after City beat a host of top European clubs for the Spain Under-21 global.

And the deal moved a step closer when the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) lifted the two-year ban from the Champions League imposed on the club by UEFA.

Ferran Torres just needs to sign the contract.

City were linked to several young wingers after Leroy Sane's move to Bayern Munich was confirmed at the start of July, with Ferran ultimately emerging from the pack.

"Begiristain also said it was possible City will play a friendly behind closed doors this weekend to prepare for the Champions League last-16 second leg against Real Madrid on 7 August".

"We have to be ready", he told City's official website.
