IPhone 12 won't be bundled with earbuds or charger, says analyst

This year's iPhones might not include a charger in the box

Apple's upcoming smartphone packages could be even more expensive than expected if recent rumors are to be believed. In fact just this week, Kuo reported that Apple's iPhone 12 lineup will be the first to ship without a power adapter or earbuds in the box.

According to Ice Universe, a well-known Twitter leaker, Apple's incoming 2020 iPhone flagships - AKA the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max - will feature 120Hz ProMotion displays.

Instead, Kuo claims Apple will release a new 20-watt power adapter with USB-C power delivery for fast charging as an optional accessory for iPhone 12 buyers.

Kuo, who has a very strong track record for sharing accurate information with investors about future Apple news, believes the iPhone 12 will include only a Lightning-to-USB-C cable in the box. The beta contains a new kind of input known as Tap Back Apple software features such as widgets and refinements, which may make the iPhone 12 an update once it launches. Furthermore, it is now unknown whether Apple plans to include a lighting cable in the box, or whether that would be a separate purchase too. The current 5W and 18W chargers will be discontinued, with the iPhone 12 only shipping with a USB to lighting cable. Curiously, blue was dropped from the iPhone 11 line-up despite being available for the iPhone XR.

But given the volume of iPhones shifted, there are surely also a lot of unused chargers sitting in drawers around the world, something Apple may be looking to address by making them an add-on purchase.

Now, we can get a quick glimpse of what Apple's iPhone 12 Pro might look like in navy blue thanks to a concept video posted to YouTube. What price do you want to see the iPhone 12 launch at?

Starting at just £419 ($514), the iPhone SE has been the answer to everybody's prayers for a cheaper iPhone model.
